Seasons' Eatings ("the app") is made by Evershead Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17454078, registered office: Flat A-D, 419 Caledonian Road, London, N7 9BQ), operated by Felix Taylor. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. If anything here is unclear, contact [email protected].
Seasons' Eatings doesn't have user accounts, doesn't collect your name or email address, and doesn't sell or share your data with anyone for advertising. Almost everything you enter into the app - your tracked plants, planting dates, preferences - stays on your phone. The only data that leaves your device is what's needed to look up weather for your postcode, and what Apple/Google and RevenueCat need to manage your subscription.
Postcode and location. When you enter a UK postcode, the app looks up its approximate latitude/longitude using postcodes.io, a free public service run against Ordnance Survey and Office for National Statistics open data. That coordinate is then sent to our weather data provider(s) - currently Visual Crossing, and/or the Met Office Weather DataHub - to fetch forecast and historical weather for your area. We only ever use the postcode's general area, not a precise address - postcodes.io resolves to the postcode's centroid, not your exact front door. Your postcode is stored locally on your device so the app doesn't have to ask again; it is not stored on any server we control.
Tracked plants and dates. Which vegetables you're tracking, when you planted them, and your notification preferences are stored only in local app storage on your device. We never see this data, and it isn't backed up anywhere unless your phone's own operating system backs up your phone in the ordinary way, outside this app's control.
Subscription and purchase data. Buying or restoring a subscription is handled by Apple's In-App Purchase system (or Google Play Billing, if this app is ever released on Android) and by RevenueCat, a subscription management service we use to confirm your purchase is genuine. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device/purchase identifier and your purchase receipt - never your name, email, or payment details, which Apple/Google handle directly and never share with us. Notifications. Frost alerts are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device using iOS/Android's own local notification system. No notification content or scheduling data is sent to us or anyone else.
Recipe and plant photos. Some plant photos are bundled directly into the app. Others are fetched from Wikipedia/Wikimedia by plant name (not by anything about you) and cached on your device.
We don't run any analytics or tracking in the app, we don't use advertising identifiers, and we don't have a server that stores your personal data. We don't share data with data brokers or advertisers.
Each of these is a separate company with its own privacy policy governing what it does with requests it receives; we send them only the minimum data needed (a coordinate, a plant name, a purchase receipt) to provide the relevant feature.
Because almost all your data lives only on your own device, the simplest way to exercise your rights over it - to see it, change it, or delete it - is directly in the app, or by uninstalling it, which removes everything the app stored locally. Under UK GDPR you also have rights over any data processed on our behalf by RevenueCat or Apple/Google; contact them directly (details in their own privacy policies) or contact us at [email protected] and we'll help however we can. You can also complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office, at any time.
Seasons' Eatings isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for any material change, note it in the app's release notes.
